Foods Your Pet Should Not Eat This Holiday

What Not To Feed Your Dog

With the Holidays just around the corner, we have a temptation, at least I know I do, to spoil our pets as well and share a Christmas Cookie or 2. With quest arriving and lots going on in the home, I just wanted to share this bit of info. with all those pet lovers out there.

Did you know there are some foods your pet should not eat? I make a wonderful pastry call rugelach and that has raisins. Did you know that raisins are toxic to dogs as well as chocolate so be careful when you break off a piece of that oatmeal raisin cookie or chocolate chip cookie.

FOODS YOUR PET SHOULD NOT EAT

What Pets Should Not Eat

There are also plants to avoid in case your pets like to get into a little trouble inside the home. This holiday, be sure to lift those Poinsettias. They are highly poison to dogs. More Info. (Pet Poison Hotline)

Orbit Gum Poison To Dogs

One other thing to remember. Be careful when you leave those purses on the floor ladies, the chewing gums with the artificial sweeteners in them can kill your dog.  Xylitol is used as a sweetener in many products, including gum, candy, baked goods and toothpaste. It can cause insulin release in most species, which can lead to liver failure. This has happened to me when my dog found a pack in my daughters room. We did not even know what the issue was until we came home and found all the wrappers. It took 24 hours at the vet to get her flushed out. A real close call. I am happy to report she is fine and dandy now and we learned that lesson the hard way.

So just remember the items above this holiday season and throughout the year. Share these with other pet owners to prevent a horrible insident that could have been prevented. Have a Happy Holiday and give an extra hug to your favorite 4 legged family member for me. Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah!

Evergreen Privacy Walls For Landscaping In Georgia

As a Remax Realtor, working in the Area of North Atlanta GA, we are selling homes and listing homes everyday.
One of the big questions we get when showing a homes is,

“What do you suggest we plant for a privacy wall in this back yard”?

Privacy Walls With Plants
When I first moved here to Georgia, I joined the Cherokee Master Gardeners and it was a great idea. The classes taught everyone a little bit about a lot of topics. From grass to Georgia native plants, to the best maintenance free shrubs to composting and fertilizing.

Anyway, back to the subject of this Blog, What resources are available and what plants to use to establish a Living Wall, instead of building a fence for privacy.

First, Here are a few resources that I found, instead of coping what they have to say. Keep in mind, the state of Georgia has a few Zones to consider (Zones 7, 8 and 9), so I have attached a Map for your reference as well. Happy Planting!
