Autrey Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center
Autrey Mill is located on 46 acres of ravine forest off Old Alabama Road across from the Country Club of The South Estate Community, Johns Creek 30022. Autrey Mill Nature Preserve & Heritage Center has more that 2 miles of walking trails which wind past a scenic creek off the Chattahoochee River. Adding to the Preserve’s scenery are rocky shoals, spring seeps, mature trees, wildflowers, native plants and animal life.

The Park Grounds are open daily from 8 am to dusk
Visitor Center is open Monday-Saturday form 10am-4pm

Newtown Park
Newtown Park is located on 46 ares. Newtown Park offers many athletic and recreational options including walking trails, baseball/softball fields, tennis courts and picnic pavilions.Located just across the street fromt the Johns Creek Fire Station number 63, at 3150 Old Alabama Road.

All recreational programs held at Newtown Park are managed by the non-profit organization Newtown Recreation. They offer youth athletic programs including soccer, flag football, lacrosse, t-ball, baseball, softball, tennis. Athletic programs for exceptional children are also offered.Newtown Park is also supported by the non-profit Newtown Park Community Foundation.

Visit the Newtown Dog Park while you are there with your friendly pal. The area is fenced and about a half acre in size and has an area separated for large dogs and small dogs with water stations and benches to sit on. Cats are strictly prohibited.

Ocee Park
Ocee Park comprises 37 acres. Ocee Park offers many athletic and recreational options including walking trails, baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts and picnic pavilions.

All recreational programs held at Ocee Park are managed by the non-profit Ocee Park Athletic Association. Established in 1993, the Association sponsors youth baseball and softball programs for boys and girls ages 5 to 16 years old. Today, more than 1,700 participants and over 1,100 families belong to the Association.
Ocee Park is located just off Kimball Bridge Road at 10900 Buice Road in Johns Creek.

Shakerag Park
Shakerag Park is a rustic 66-acre community park, with a 7-acre lake and more, located in the north-eastern tip of Johns Creek bordering River Trail Middle School. Shakerag Park has both developed and undeveloped areas and is located adjacent to the Johns Creek Fire Station at 10945 Rogers Circle.

Among the many City Walking Trails throughout the City in in the Cities parks is the Greenway, well worth mentioning.
Johns Creek Greenway – Segment 1 starts at Old Alabama Road, runs mostly along the west side of Medlock Bridge Road and ends at Findley Road (approx. 4.3 miles). Sections have already been built by developers with their new developments along the Greenway’s path, with the entire Segment 1 scheduled to open October 2009.

The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area, part of the National Park Service System, is spread over a 48-mile section of the Chattahoochee River from Lake Lanier Dam in Forsyth County to Peachtree Creek near downtown Atlanta.Parts Of The Chattahoochee National Park is located in the City of Johns Creek.

A Bit About Kirk Franz who is Johns Creek Recreation & Parks Manager:
Kirk Franz has lived and worked in the Johns Creek Community since 1997 and brings over 10 years of experience in Parks and Recreation to the City.
Joining the City in November 2006, Franz most recently served as Director of Newtown Recreation, a non-profit youth athletic association which supports programs at Johns Creek’s Newtown Park. In that position, Franz oversaw all of Newtown Park’s programs, which serve 5,000 participants each year.
Previously, he served as the Youth Athletics Coordinator for the City of Alpharetta, Georgia.
