Sandy Springs is a bustling urban area that includes some of the most expensive housing in Atlanta, as well as condos, town homes, apartments and shopping. Several areas are being redeveloped into live-work-play communities. Once part of unincorporated Fulton County, it became a city late in 2005 when its new charter took effect. The city of 86,000, tucked between Buckhead and Roswell, was developed as a bedroom suburb during the 1950s and ’60s.
