Puppy Love…
Foods Your Pet Should Not Eat This Holiday
December 9th, 2014 categories: Deborah's Scrapbook, My Favorites, Puppy Love...
With the Holidays just around the corner, we have a temptation, at least I know I do, to spoil our pets as well and share a Christmas Cookie or 2. With quest arriving and lots going on in the home, I just wanted to share this bit of info. with all those pet lovers out there.
Did you know there are some foods your pet should not eat? I make a wonderful pastry call rugelach and that has raisins. Did you know that raisins are toxic to dogs as well as chocolate so be careful when you break off a piece of that oatmeal raisin cookie or chocolate chip cookie.

- Chocolate, Coffee, Caffeine
- Alcohol
- Avocado
- Macadamia Nuts
- Grapes & Raisins
- Yeast Dough
- Raw/Under cooked Meat, Eggs and Bones
- Onions, Garlic, Chives
- Milk
- Salt
There are also plants to avoid in case your pets like to get into a little trouble inside the home. This holiday, be sure to lift those Poinsettias. They are highly poison to dogs. More Info. (Pet Poison Hotline)

One other thing to remember. Be careful when you leave those purses on the floor ladies, the chewing gums with the artificial sweeteners in them can kill your dog. Xylitol is used as a sweetener in many products, including gum, candy, baked goods and toothpaste. It can cause insulin release in most species, which can lead to liver failure. This has happened to me when my dog found a pack in my daughters room. We did not even know what the issue was until we came home and found all the wrappers. It took 24 hours at the vet to get her flushed out. A real close call. I am happy to report she is fine and dandy now and we learned that lesson the hard way.
So just remember the items above this holiday season and throughout the year. Share these with other pet owners to prevent a horrible insident that could have been prevented. Have a Happy Holiday and give an extra hug to your favorite 4 legged family member for me. Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah!

I have always loved pets! In fact, like a lot of children, I told everyone as I grew up, that I was going to be a veterinarian. Well, my passion for real estate took over. That, fortunately, has never changed how I feel about these little souls, domestic or wild.
This is a short and sweet blog to share a story that may help you in “Your Journey To Home” to find the perfect pet for you in North Atlanta GA!
My daughter has recently been searching for a Beagle or a King Charles Spaniel for her place in Atlanta. She shared with me, and I intend to share with you, her favorite resources that she frequents often.
If you are looking for a pet and are ready to visit a pet that needs a loving home, feel free to visit the resources above and I thank you in advance for giving a little baby with fur a place they can truly call home!
Good Luck to you in your search for your new addition to your home! If even 1 pet becomes adopted because of this blog, I would be thrilled. So many people do so much to find these wonderful furry souls a home. I would love to hear from you if you find your dream pet in North Atlanta!
